Abstract

TPC (Taiwan Power Company) Taichung fossil power plant the No.5 unit is a conventional dual-fire (coal and oil) 550MW power generation unit. The full scope simulator (FSS) designed by ADT includes simulations of boiler and T/G islands, Balance of Plant (BOP), pulverizer systems and plant auxiliaries, etc. The controls of entire real plant is implemented by three DCS systems, including GE Mark V (turbine controls), ABB Symphony INFI 90 (BMS), and Westinghouse WDPF (BOP). The Simport (the earlier version of simulator platform base on windows 2000 operation system) supplied by WSC is applied as the simulator platform of FSS and a complete online object oriented real time simulation environment with an extensive suite of modeling tools and a powerful graphical user interface of instruction station are designed for operator training. This project had completed on November 2003 successfully with satisfactory of TPC.

The Personal Computers (PC) based simulation host computer and fast Ethernet architecture are applied to the system supplied for the excellent real time performance and system synchronization. The detailed system configuration is shown as the following figure.
